The Hamrin Foundation's purpose is to promote scientific research by providing grants to individuals, research groups, institutions or projects.

- Media, democracy and communication
- Arts, academia and industry
A project should be able to address major societal challenges that affect many people. We are looking for interdisciplinary projects that open up perspectives and attract researchers from different activities and disciplines.
Our partners are universities, research groups or institutions that want to contribute to societal benefit and new imaginations while challenging the status quo.
A research agreement means that:
-The recipient must meet the conditions linked to our purpose (see more info under Purpose and focus) The Foundation works for its purpose by giving grants to individuals, to research groups, institutions or similar
-The Foundation has templates for applications, general conditions and agreements.
-The agreements are signed by the chairman and CEO of THF and by the head of department and project manager at the managing organization.
-The duration is 1-3 years with annual reporting. Grants are requested six months in advance.
-Usually refers to funding of post-doc or research projects

Step 1.
You submit a description of your project (maximum 1000 words) together with a full cost estimate. Email your documents to: application@hamrinfoundation.com

Step 2.
We process applications continuously throughout the year, in conjunction with our Board meetings. Our Board meetings take place in February, May, August, October and December.
After this, we will get back to the applicant with a decision.
The Foundation does not comment on rejected applications.
Step 3.
Once your application has been approved, you will receive with the announcement a document containing information on how to request funds from us.

You can submit your application at any time during the year and we will discuss it at the next Board meeting.
Our Board meetings are scheduled for February, May, June, October and December, but may be rescheduled. When you submit your application, you will be informed when the next Board meeting is and when you can expect a reply.

🔶 Can I be the lead applicant on more than one application?
You can only be the lead applicant on one application, but you can be a co-applicant on another application.
🔶 What do I do if my project is delayed?
You can request an extension of the reporting deadline by emailing us. Please state the reason why you need an extension and the length of the extension. If the Foundation considers the reason acceptable, a grace period may be granted.
🔶 Is my application a public document?
No, we do not disclose applications.
🔶 Is it allowed to use AI when writing my application?
It is allowed to use AI, but it is important to remember that as an applicant you are always responsible for the accuracy of all information and content of the application.
🔶 What happens if the main applicant or co-applicant will no longer be involved in the project?
You will contact us well before the change is planned to take place, informing us why this change is taking place and whether you plan to replace that person with someone else. If we consider that the change will result in too great a difference between the original description/purpose of the project and what is described in the change, we have the right to terminate the contract.
🔶 Can I use the awarded grant for something other than what is stated in the application?
The grant awarded may only be used for the purpose stated in the application and in accordance with the conditions set out. If the conditions for carrying out the research project change in any way, the Foundation must always be informed.
🔶 Is there any requirement for acknowledgments?
The main applicant is responsible for ensuring that The Hamrin Foundation is mentioned in all reporting and presentation of the research. This applies to e.g. lecture material, social media, other websites, publications and in written and oral lecture material, etc.
